Pecan Time!

I've grown to love Fall, autumn as we call it back in the Motherland, especially when the pecans are ready for harvesting. It's usually a race between us and the squirrels (I think they win handily) to get the nicest, most plump nuts.

Yes 'plump'! Fresh pecans are so much different to the dry old things in the store. They're moist, slightly chewy, and so full of flavor. Usually we crack them out on the porch; using the one for the pot and one for our stomachs approach! Helps keep our energy levels up you see.

Our favorite roasting recipe (experiment with your own proprotions):
- maple syrup
- paprika
- a little chocolate powder
- salt
- fresh ground pepper

Yum! In fact I think I'll make some more now!
