2008 Veranda Cabernet Carmenere - wine review

What better way to kick things off than with a wine review!

The 2008 Veranda Cabernet/Carmenere blend from Chile is not only a really *Good Value* wine at about $15, it's a really good wine at much higher prices.

The first bottle I tried with no decanting, but due to it's young age found the second bottle much more enjoyable with ~2 hours of decant time.

I'll try my best to describe it (without too many flabby descriptors): a good swirl releases aromas reminiscent of licorice, blackcurrants and blackberries. It's not over-cooked or jammy, there's a nice balance of tannins, fruity flavors, and acids in the mouth. It's a little astringent, but then I quite like that!

Drinking it is really easy and enjoyable and the bottle was soon empty! I'll buy some more for sure.
